Washington county law enforcement agencies arrested 87 impaired drivers during the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) impaired driving enforcement campaign. Around 400 Minnesota law enforcement agencies participated in the statewide December-long effort.
According to the Stillwater Gazette, more than half a million Minnesotans with a DWI on record–meaning one in eight Minnesota drivers have at least one DWI. Between 2006 and 2008, 4,517 individuals were arrested for a DWI in Washington county. A Minnesota DWI can result in loss of driver’s license for at least 90 days and cost up to $20,000, when factoring in increased insurance costs, legal fees, court fines, etc.
